6'6" Banksia Single Fin

Just reloading some content as my old blogs have disappeared.
This is one of my favourites.
Beautiful Aussie Coastal Banksia

I always spend a bit of time figuring out the best way to go about slicing up timber.
Grain character on the face usually varies significantly from that on the edge, especially with open-grained cellular timber like this.

In some ways it's not dissimilar to Silky oak but a lot softer.
I can see there is going to be issues to overcome.

Introduction

Hi guys,
This is my new blog.
Dunno what happened to my old blogs.
I could view them but couldn't edit or make new posts.
And given that we live in the new world of "no humans available" I was unable to get any info or assistance at all.

Anyway, stiff shit.
So basically, we do a couple of things here at Dovetail Surfboards.
We build wooden / timber surfboards or surfboards made predominantly from wood / timber.
We also supply Premium grade Australian Paulownia through our website at www.paulowniatimbersales.com.au and from our shed at:
We also stock Clean surfboard grade Balsa and western red cedar.

Here's some pics from the last year or so.
